Beat Malaria in Botswana

What is Malaria? Malaria is a disease that is spread by mosquitoes. This disease is a very rare disease in America, but is very common in Africa. In America we have the medicine to get rid of the disease, if you get it. But in African they can’t afford to buy the medicine, that is why this disease is so common. What are the symptoms for Malaria? The symptoms are high fever, headache, anemia, and nausea.¬†Africa is a very hot and dry place, and mosquitoes like these kinds of places. Ever 30 seconds a child dies from Malaria (that is so sad). Malaria is a very deadly disease if not treated.

My literacy whats to take a place in helping stop Malaria. To do that we Skype a teacher that lives in Botswana, Africa (that was really cool). He told use that to help we could do a fund raiser, to raise money to buy bed nets for the people in Botswana. What are bed nets? Bed nets are nets that hang over your bed, that help prevent you from getting bite by a mosquitoes at night. If we are able to have a fund raiser, they that is what we are going to do to stop Malaria in Botswana.

Why is this important? This is important because if we stop Malaria in Botswana, that would mean we are saving hundreds of lives. Also if we stop Malaria in Botswana, maybe we can stop Malaria all together. Stopping Malaria may take along time. But that is not going to stop us from helping.
